1/15/2024 0 Comments Dxo photolab 4 vs 5![]() I will take the plunge and buy it while is at the offer price and start getting used to it and start getting a work flow sorted out. But you have just to understand that it's different from LR, but very useful and powerful. At first glance it gives a strange, flat result. You need only to be careful with Selective Tone in DXO PhotoLab as it works a bit different than in Lightroom. And, if you also need a pixel editor, buy Affinity Photo and be happy. With this combo you'll have a very powerful raw editor. It's pricey by itself and, if you want a more complete array of tools I suggest you buying the Elite version and, if it's important to you, Film Pack and DXO ViewPoint. Undoubtedly better than ON1 and even Lightroom, and at the same level as Capture One. It has better DAM features, layers, pano, HDR.īut if you want the better results, DXO PL. I have looked at PL in the past but have always stuck to Adobe but am now thinking its time to stop paying for a subscription. I will download the Trial of PL5 as I have a few days left to have a play around with it before the offer goes. My lenses are all Canon RF as I have a couple of R6 bodies and I noticed DXO does support them both. It looks as though I will settle with PL5 as I'm not really into the adding of filters preferring my own adjustments etc. I purchased it for around £35 in 2016 and am still receiving free updates todayīoth ON1 and DXO are excellent products and like all modern software will give excellent results as long as you know how they work. I consider Affinity Photo one of the bargains in photo editing software. ![]() With DXO you would need to add Affinity Photo (currently £33) which pretty much matches PS and gives you pano/hdr/focus stacking/astro modules as well as the normal pixel editing. ON1 on the other hand means that you might not need a pixel editor to do heavy pixel mangling like extensive cloning, object removal, compositing etc. Like LR you can usually do most of your editing within Photolab with the NIK U- Point technology and layer based UI giving powerful local adjustment capabilities. ![]() ON1 conceptually is based on adding filters to edit your image and it's depends on whether you like that approach?ĭXO will certainly give you a better raw conversion with class leading noise reduction and optical corrections (if you have supported lenses) and for me that is what would point me towards DXO. DXO Photolab Elite is very like LR whilst ON1 is a combination of LR and limited PS capability. The two products are fundamentally different. Your advice and thoughts would be most welcome please. I seem to be making up my mind on one thing and then I see other offers flying into my mail box I currently subscribe to the Adobe CC Photography subscription but am looking to get away from it at some stage. It's not a case of going for the cheapest but deciding which one I will get the best use out of for my image editing. I am on the verge of purchasing the DXO PL5 but seeing as I have just received this offer which is £36 cheaper wondered if anyone can give advice/comparisons between the two please. I have just received an email regarding ON1 Photo Raw deal for £65.21 and wondered if anyone can give a comparison to DXO PL. ![]()
